Symbol of Nadur

The sun rising from a reddish blue sea on a yellowish field. Nadur is in the north eastern and the most beautiful aurora can be observed from its heights. Hence it is the city of the rising sun.

Local bird: The Falcon

Ta' Hida meaning the nest of falcon. It was a protected place by the Grand Master, no one was permitted to trap or shoot the falcon at Ta' Hida.

The City Hall was opened on Sunday 19 th. November 2006.

Nadur became a parish on the 28 th. April, 1688. The parish was dedicated to the Princes of the Apostles St. Peter and St. Paul. The parish at that time included the villages of Nadur, Qala, Ghajnsielem and the island of Comino.

Important dates in Nadur:

1688 Nadur became parish. 1760 Work started on the present church. 1894 The parish church was elevated to Archpriest. 1895 The parish church was elevated to Collegiate. 1967 The parish church was elevated to Basilica. 1958 Nadur Youngsters F.C. was established. 1967 The Mnarja Band was established. 1968 The parish celebrated the 19 th. century of the martyrdom of the Patron Saints Peter & Paul. 1968 Nadur Youngsters won their first Champions Trophy
