Undertakings of our Priory.
1. The annual Christmas Luncheon for people of the third age.
2. To welcome visitors to Santa Rosa especially voluntary teachers who might come to teach.
3. To do whatever is needed to elevate the out casted situation of the handicapped; in which they are living, starting from helping them to form and register an association. For example there is a handicapped man; Mr Pisco who asked us to help him form an association and he does not even has $2.00 to buy the minutes book.
Dear Grand Master and confreres,
Good wishes and prayers from the District of Santa Rosa in the Selva of Peru. As Australia has less contemporary history than Malta, Santa Rosa has just celebrated its 20 years Anniversary as a Political people. Yet if we start tossing the history ball around we could find historical paintings in Australia dating back 44 thousand years. Both in Malta and in Australia we have keen archaeologists who are determined to draw us a clear map of man’s walking upon this crust which we call Earth and attach some dates with events. Peru has rich past and wonderful stories of predecessors like the Inca and beyond. History books are rarely changed but when they do, a great sensation is caused! It seems that the history books of Peru re, Inca trail might very well be challenged because a professor from Santa Rosa is claiming that the Inca lived and passed from this district before stated in our history books. I would like to sustain our ‘Colegio Anthony Zammit’ with extra Archaeological studies so that we will form archeologists from our own to explore for the abundant concealed sites this professor claims he has seen. It took him days of walking and when he got there his camera failed and he came back with no proof. A friend of mine in Nasca gave me two old artifacts, a ceremonial cup and a stone bag to shoot at animals with like the one which killed Goliath. I sent it to the art Museum in Ayacucho to be certified under a contract at the office of the Justice of the Peace. When it comes back with certification and a little bit of history I, Prior of the Confraternity of Knights of St. Peter and St. Paul with my knights and dames will present it to the people of Santa Rosa as a gesture to promote their interest in their abundant historical past. This will also prompt the sleepy Mayor to build some sort of Museum where we have very old stone tools and fossils millions of years old of tortoise and other animals.
Yesterday the 3rd of February, we had our first meeting and we blessed the badges generously donated by his Grace Grand Master Peter Paul and distributed them to the knights and Dames. We received Chev Eustaquio Lozano Pianto because he was absent when we received the others at the Christmas luncheon. Mr. Jose Montes did not attend and therefore he was not received. We spoke of the need to register our branch in the Public Registries and have a minutes book legalized by a notary. Then we attended to the undertakings of our Confraternity, mainly three things. 1st the annual Christmas Luncheon for people of the third age, secondly to welcome visitors to Santa Rosa especially voluntary teachers who might come to teach, and thirdly to do whatever is needed to elevate the out casted situation of the handicapped; in which they are living, starting from helping them to form and register an association. For example there is a handicapped man; Mr Pisco who asked us to help him form an association and he does not even has $2.00 to buy the minutes book.
We bought 10 chicken dinners for a total of $30.00 and discussed while eating. I informed them that I was off to Malta to vote in the general election and that hopefully I will be back in April. It started to rain and we had to change rooms because the ceiling was leaking. We were hosted at Chev Cesar and Dama Maribell’s house. Ended the meeting with a very positive feeling.
Yours Fr Anthony Zammit

Carmelo Farrugia ... delighted with Order of Australia Medal.
DESPERATE to join the Maltese Army, a 14-year-old Carmelo “Charlie” Farrugia forged his parents’ signatures and went to fight for his country.
After only six weeks of basic training, he became 1128 Boy Soldier Farrugia of the Royal Malta Artillery.
Along with other soldiers in his regiment, eight of them boys, he was posted to Malta’s Fort St Elmo, in 1943.
Nearly 70 years on, Mr Farrugia, now 82, continues to serve the Maltese community from his home in Windsor Gardens.
Mr Farrugia was this week awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for his service to veterans and their families through the Maltese Sub-Branch of the South Australian RSL.
