NEWEST KNIGHT: Guy 'Gejtu' Deguara.

Guy 'Gejtu' Joseph Deguara was born in Victory Street, Hamrun on the 29th. July, 1936. He was educated at the Hamrun Primary School and was a member of the Hamrun 1st. Scouts Group for over eight years.
He worked at the Marsa Sports Club till he left Malta to emigrate to Australia. At the age of 18 years, in January, 1955.
Guy was the first from the family of 12 to emigrate. He is the fourth child of Charles and Melita nee Spagnol. He arrived in Melbourne on the 3rd. of March, 1955 and started work the next day with Roots Motors in Port Melbourne. He worked for G.J. Coles Supermarkets for seventeen years, started as a storeman in Pascoe Vale and left as a Supermarket Manager at Dallas in 1980 to join another supermarket chain Jewels Food Stores as a supervisor and stayed till 1997 till the company was sold.
These days Guy is retired. He is President of St. Gaetan Society Inc. and Vice President of the Maltese Community Council of Victoria, where he held the position for over ten years.
Guy is also in the Maltese Group of the Ethnic Radio 3 ZZZ as a committee member. He also contributes to the sports segment on radio 3ZZZ, Stereo 97.4 and the MCCV Newsletter.
Guy is married to Mary nee Sultana and will celebrate 50 years marriage on the 26th. of July. Guy and Mary have a son John, daughter in law Pam nee Cooper and two grandchildren Renae 21 and Leigh 20 years old.
Guy said he feels honoured to be accepted as a Knight of the Order of St. Peter and St. Paul and he promise to do all that is possible to honour the Order.

Fr. Denis is saying the prayer of the investiture to Guy Deguara the newly anointed Knight. Guy Deguara is a tireless working person in the Maltese community of Melbourne and President of St. Geatan Hamrun Association.
